Summary : Within the broader domain of social determinants of health, inequitable access to care and inequitable health outcomes contribute powerfully to health disparities for Indigenous Australians. Chronic kidney disease is inextricably linked with diabetes and cardiovascular disease as a major contributor to health disparities for Indigenous Australians. This presentation will explore population patterns of kidney disease, reasons postulated for the excess burden of kidney disease and discuss research and policy approaches to improve health outcomes.
