Summary :
In this presentation A.Prof. Neal addresses the questions of whether thiazolidinediones have an effect, either beneficial or detrimental on cardiovascular outcomes, and whether there are differences between agents in this drug class.
From a methodological perspective, what constitutes evidence about the detection of treatment effects? Precision and validity are needed, and to have these together requires a large-scale randomised trial or a quantitative overview of multiple randomised trials.
A.Prof. Neal discusses the conclusions of different overviews on TZD-associated risk and limitations of these analyses.
